How it works

Simple, proven, professional

  1. 1

    Pre-filtration

Sediment and carbon filters remove particles and chlorine before the membrane.

  2. 2

    Reverse osmosis membrane

Water is pushed through a fine membrane that removes dissolved solids, leaving clean, great-tasting water.

  3. 3

    Bottled-quality at the tap

Crisp drinking and cooking water on demand from a dedicated faucet — no more bottled water.

Reverse Osmosis: common questions

Where does an RO system install?
Most often under the kitchen sink with a dedicated faucet. It can also feed your refrigerator and ice maker.
Does RO waste water?
Modern high-efficiency RO systems waste far less than older units. We install efficient systems and explain the tradeoffs.
Do I still need a softener with RO?
RO treats your drinking water; a softener protects your whole home and appliances. They solve different problems and work well together.
Does reverse osmosis remove the minerals my body needs?
RO does reduce dissolved minerals along with contaminants, but the minerals in tap water are a very small part of a normal diet. If you prefer, we can add a remineralization stage that puts back a touch of calcium and magnesium for taste.
How often do RO filters need to be changed?
As a general rule the pre- and post-filters are changed about once a year and the membrane lasts several years, depending on your water and usage. We'll show you how, and we can remind you or handle it for you.
